The Phantom Tollbooth 50th Anniversary Edition - Norton Juster, Jules Feiffer I have read this book, many many times, I have lost count. (Well not this 50th Anniversary edition, I've only read this edition once, my poor paperback version on the other hand has seen better days.) For the life of me I cannot remember how this book came to me. I really wish that I could. Did we read it for school? Did I buy it at the school book sale? Was it a gift? Even if I can't remember how I was introduced to this book, I can still remember reading it for the first time. I couldn't really relate to Milo's when he was home he wanted to be away, and when he was away he wanted to be home. But I was instantly captivated by the story, the scribbly art and the fantastic imagination, and I stayed captivated with it all the way to the end.
