I think this book could have been a lot more. The story was good, the writing could have been better. It lacks polish, feels like the author took a lot of plot elements and story and just threw them together. I really wanted to like this book. There were some twists and surprises and I thought the author could have done a better job with them, when things were revealed, it sort of left you with a 'I'm not surprised moment', the opposite of what it should have been. I also found some of the descriptions overly confusing and vague.
I suppose my biggest gripe with the book is that I didn't relate to anyone in it, and as a result I didn't care what happened to any of the characters.
I'm going to try the second book and hope that it doesn't disappoint quite as much.
